B.P PODDAR INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT & TECHNOLOGY was established under the overall management and supervision of the B.P.Poddar foundation for education, a trust dedicated to enhance and enrich the quality of technical education available in the country. BPPIMT was set up as a tribute to the memory of Late Badri Prasad Poddar. Shri B.P. Poddar was keenly interested in the development of technical education and was associated with IIT Kharagpur as its chairman. B.P PODDAR INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT & TECHNOLOGY is affiliated to the University of Kalyani and West Bengal University of Technology and the courses offered are structured according to the prevailing International standards.

New Science & Technology Institutes
A separate Institute is being created in Kolkata to cater to Biotechnology, Genetics and Microbiology education and R&D activities. The Research Wing of the Institute will be commissioned in June 2004 and the courses will commence in the next season. The thrust will be on the research and development activities with special emphasis to the service in the welfare of the society through education - research - industry interaction in the fields of agriculture, health, healthcare, food processing and preservation, environment and other related fields. The education is being organized with the establishment of a college dedicated largely to the bio-technology teaching and research.
